Our little Jamie is sick again. Last week she had the three-day-fever exanthem, and yesterday she started to feel sick again. I guess it' s easier to catch a new infection because her immune system is already a little stressed.. And the fact that the young ones are suppose to get many infections the first two years..
Anyway, yesterday evening she just had a little runny nose and she felt almost like normal, no fever. After she slept for a few hours she woke up and did barely breathe. It was a new kind of struggle not the fast shallow breathing she has had before when it's been bad. This time it felt that she had problems breathing out and did barely inhale at all..I got so scared.. She had a very stuffed nose so she got nose spray and I took her outside for a while and then she started to get her normal breath back again.. She had a lot of mucus when she coughed so I think it was a combination.of that and the stuffed nose. I held her sitting upright for half the night and her breathing stayed normal and calm, so I put her down again with her head leaning up but after a little while she woke up again, sat up and it was the same with barely breathing again... We prepared to go to the ER, but tried to see if it helped with cold air and calming her down again and it did help. She got better and slept the rest of the night..I didn't.. It's scary with "new" problems when they are sick.. After the first year I got confident in looking for signs of when it's time to seek medical help etc. counting the breathing and check for other vital signs, but this was so different.. Almost sounded like lyringitis ("falsk krupp") well we have to wait and see if we take her to the doctor today. This morning she's alot more tired than usually, but no fever and at least she drank a little...
